Colbie Caillat is getting set to begin a new chapter in her career.

The singer-songwriter announced on Instagram that she and her bandmate Justin Young have decided to leave their country band Gone West.

"After a lot of thought during this time, Justin and I have decided to leave Gone West," Caillat wrote in a lengthy post.

"Creative partnerships, especially with friends, are both rewarding and challenging at times, and though this was not an easy decision, we know ending the band was the right one. Justin and I are best friends and will continue to make music together forever."

The group, which also included the married couple Jason Reeves and Nelly Joy, was short-lived, having formed in 2018. Reeves and Caillat are longtime collaborators as the duo co-wrote several hits including “Bubbly,” “Realize,” and “I Never Told You.”

“We’re so proud of the music the four of us created together over the past three years,” she added.

Canyons is an album we truly love and cherish, every song holds so much truth in the experiences we all go through in life. I want to thank all of my fans and all of Gone West’s fans for supporting our music, coming to our shows, and everything in-between.”

The group’s debut studio album Canyons was just released this past June.

The announcement comes just months after Caillat revealed she and her longtime fiancé Justin Young had ended their relationship. At the time, the duo indicated they’ll remain best friends and continue to collaborate musically with one another.
