Ash Bowers KMLE Country Live

Ash Bowers has been in the music business for a while and got his start by writing songs for other artists, but now he’s starting to make a name for himself.

Bowers, who was raised in Jackson, Tennessee, said he grew up listening to Kenny Chesney and John Mellencamp and can remember listening to them at the age of 15. They inspired him to be a country star and it’s apparent that it’s what he was born to do.

He stopped by the KMLE 107.9 station to play a few songs for the KMLE Nation and he also brought along his high school pal and guitar player Jason Kurkimilis.

Bowers played songs such as “Red”, “Justice” and “Driving Nails” which are on his first album Shake It Off which was released earlier this month.

“Driving Nails” happens to be one of Bowers’ favorite songs that he’s written. Five years ago Bowers smoked a lot of cigarettes, he said. “Driving Nails is my story,” Bowers said. His mother told him that each time he had a cigarette he was driving another nail into his coffin and that statement led to a song.

Bowers also said played a special song for our listeners called “Let’s Not Let It,” which isn’t on his album. Randy Travis, who Bowers’ is a huge fan of, heard the song and recorded it!

Bowers has a way of telling his own story with the songs that he writes and performs, a way that allows the audience to really connect with his music. Ash, who flew in from San Jose this morning put on an amazing performance and we’re excited to watch the impact that he is going to have on the country music industry. To keep up with Ash Bowers and check for more tour dates visit
